Aman New York is the newest luxury hotel boasting a hefty price tag

You’ll need to have a couple thousand just floating around if you want to book a stay at the world’s newest and most expensive city-based hotel, Aman New York.

The high-end brand opening in the US city is already making headlines, if not for the exceptionally appointed rooms then for the outrageously eye-watering prices.

A stay here will be reserved for only the most well-off luxury travellers with rates for base rooms starting at $4,577 AUD (US$3,200) a night. This price will also depend on the time of year, with the average nightly room rate looking to be around $5,722 AUD (US$4,000). Yikes.

Those familiar with the Aman brand would be expecting a pretty hefty price tag on the rooms, but predictions would still probably have fallen short. To put that room rate into perspective, a base room at Aman Tokyo sits at around $993 AUD ($684 USD) a night, while Aman Venice at its cheapest point in the year would sit at around $2,430 AUD ($1,675 USD) a night.

One Mile Hotel has reported that Aman New York has claimed to be booked for the next two months after opening on 2 August, and it’s for sure one of the most highly-anticipated and talked about luxury hotel openings of the year.

What can you expect at Aman New York

It will boast everything from a  rich wine library to high-end Japanese and Italian restaurants, a sprawling garden terrace, and their signature 25,000-square-foot spa, undoubtedly making it an opulent treat for the uncompromising luxury traveller.

Will the absurd price tag stick? Who knows, but if you’re all cashed up with nowhere to go you can check in for a stay yourself.
