Sip on a glass of the finest French Champagne aboard Scenic Eclipse II as it sets sail on its maiden voyage on April 13th. You’ll follow the 11-day Incredible Iberian Discovery itinerary, traversing the Atlantic from the vibrant city of Lisbon to Barcelona’s colour and art-filled streets.
But this is no regular all-inclusive cruise; this is the epitome of ultra-luxury. Not content with just five stars, the Scenic Eclipse II superyacht boasts six, taking it beyond the best consumer ships out there.
No more than 228 guests are on board at any one time, matched by the same number of staff in an almost 1:1 ratio. Butler services are the norm, too, no matter which suite you find yourself in. If you’re lucky, it’s the two-bedroom penthouse suite on deck nine, complete with a spa, spacious bathroom, and large curved balcony.
On the very top deck is a helipad, the idling place of the superyacht’s two helicopters. You’ll have to pre-book a time to do some ‘flightseeing’ along the coast, most definitely if you want to head off on a once-in-a-lifetime heli-golf or heli-skiing (in season, of course) adventure. While other guests are busy skywards, take the custom-built Scenic Neptune for some sub-sea exploring. Seating just three — the helmsman, yourself, and your travel companion — the submarine affords you a unique view of the coral reefs and sunken wrecks beneath the surface.
Back on board, swan about the Sky Bar on the Sky Deck pre-dinner, martini in hand. Take your pick of the outdoor seating — all of it comes with a 270-degree view of the ocean ahead — or book private cabana seating for something a little more intimate. The custom-designed Scandinavian Vitality Pool is a nice reprieve from the sun, with the water temperature set specifically to the destination’s climate.
Dinner could be any one of ten experiences, the most sumptuous being the Chef’s Table @ Epicure. Savour your way through 11 courses, each paired with the perfect wine chosen by the master of wine Keith Isaac.
