Calling all Potterheads!
Taking Wingaridum Leviosa quite literally, low-cost Brazilian airline GOL has unveiled a Harry Potter-themed aircraft that all witches and wizards can ride.
Named The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft is painted on the outside with iconic images and landscapes from the films, including the Hogwarts Express, Hogwarts Castle, the Forbidden Forest, and the dragon from Gringotts Wizarding Bank on Diagon Alley.
When passengers step on board they’ll be greeted with decorative maps of Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley on tray tables alongside a few familiar faces splashed across the overhead baggage compartments.
The magical plane debuted in August on a flight from Belo Horizonte to Brasilia, and will now operate primarily between Brasilia and Orlando. Sitting at seven hours and 50 minutes, the flight will be the longest scheduled 737 MAX 8 flight in the world. The interior will consist of 186 seats including 12 GOL+ Comfort seats, 20 Premium Economy seats, and 154 in economy.
Commercial Director of International Markets for GOL Luiz Teixeira said the experience they want to bring is one that’s truly unique to everyone boarding.
“We want this journey to be a moment of entertainment not only for the children but also for the adults. We want everyone to be delighted and happy during the flight and to arrive even more excited for the visits to Universal Parks and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.”
The aircraft will keep its livery for at least 18 months, so those flying between Brazil and the US will have plenty of time to experience the magic.
