With a few strategic well placed days off over 2020 you can significantly increase your time off work in 2020.
How is it the start of another year already? Well if you are feeling this way then you might also be holiday planning for 2020 aswell.
To ensure you get the most bang for your annual leave in 2020 we have outlined the days you need to book in right now to ensure you spend as much time on R&R instead of 9 to 5.
While all jobs come in different shapes and sizes these dates are based on the average 9 to 5 Monday to Friday workweek.
We have outlined the key holiday dates on the 2020 calendar, however, for added effect, you could also add a day either side of your state holidays and the Queen’s Birthday to extend long weekends from 3 days off to 4 days off.
January

4 days off from 1 day
You will want to get in quick and book your annual leave day on Friday 24th January, you’ll have a total of 4 days off over the Australia Day long weekend.
April

16 days off from 8 days
The Easter period is notorious for strategic holiday planning.
Taking 8 days of leave from Monday 6th April – Thursday 9th April and Tuesday 14th April – Friday 17th April will double your days off work to 16 days off.
That means you can hit the skies or load up the car from Saturday 4th April until Sunday 19th April 2020.
December

13 days off from 7 days
While some businesses enforce Christmas leave – if you have the freedom to alter this in any way the following dates will give you 13 days off from 7 days annual leave – plus an added 3 days off in the new year as you would be going back to work on Monday 4th January 2021.
To make the most of the festive season take these 7 days of leave Monday 21st December – Thursday 24th December and Tuesday 29th December – Thursday 31st December. Giving you enough time to soak up the sun over summer or even enjoy the perfect Winter Christmas overseas.
To summarise
So to summarise – start your 2020 holiday planning now and book in the following days off to have a total 33 days off from only 16 days annual leave:
- Friday 24th January
- Monday 6th April – Thursday 9th April
- Tuesday 14th April – Friday 17th April
- Monday 21st December – Thursday 24th December
- Tuesday 29th December – Thursday 31st December
